The biggest danger when working on scrap breakers is the metal flying pieces broken by the hammer. Therefore, the scrap crusher should be located 100 meters away from the residential plant. The factory or pit for crushing scrap iron shall be enclosed with iron plates or wood, and its height shall be determined according to the actual situation and conditions. In the upper part of the plant that may be damaged by debris flying out of the enclosure, an iron plate fence (more than 10 cm thick) or a wooden fence should be set up. The cab of the crane is covered with a protective iron sheet, and its upper part is protected by a small iron grating.

In the old crusher yard, the lower part of the scrap crusher (three quarters of the way up) was enclosed with metal or wood. When using wood to surround the fence, square sleepers with a thickness of 150 cm or more must be used. An iron plate wall with a thickness of 10-12 cm is set opposite the hole of the conveying material, and its height should be able to prevent fragments from flying over. In addition, there is a special shelter for personnel managing scrap crushers.

When using scrap crusher, special attention should be paid to the condition of hammer head, hook, pliers for hanging hammer head, wire rope, etc. The hook on the pliers for hanging the hammer head should be able to ensure that the hammer head sleeve ring should be 40 cm deep in the concave seat of the hammer head when hanging the hammer head, the steel hammer head should be the correct shape, without sharp edges and angles, the best shape is the truncated cone with a spherical hammer face.
